Student Registration

STUDENTS NEW TO SD64

Kindergarten: Registration for full-day Kindergarten starting in September is open to children turning five (5) years of age on or before December 31. Students currently enrolled in an SD64 StrongStart program are required to complete a registration form.

All New K to 12: Please register your child in the school in your residential catchment area. MAP

Please provide the following documentation when you register your child for kindergarten:

  • Verification of the child’s birth date and citizenship status (birth certificate, passport or Landed Immigrant Authorization, proof of residency)
  • B.C. Care Card

Registration and water taxi transportation are subject to District Policies and Procedures 410 and 525 available on the policies and procedures page. Program placement is subject to the availability of space in specialized programs.

STUDENTS CURRENTLY ENROLLED IN SD64

Students will automatically be enrolled at their next catchment school as part of the normally prescribed grade to grade transition (unless the school is informed otherwise). No registration is required.

Expressions of interest in specific programs at your child’s school should be made to the school principal. For additional information about high school programs available through Gulf Islands Secondary School, contact the school’s principal.


CROSS-BOUNDARY TRANSFER REQUESTS

Should you wish to enroll your child in a school outside of your catchment area (non-neighbourhood school), a cross-boundary transfer request form (Fillable PDF | PDF) must be completed annually (Policy and Procedure 525).

Prior to submitting the form to the requested school for approval, parents must obtain signatures from the principal of the neighbouhood school. The form will be date-stamped. The deadline for accepting cross-boundary request forms is February 15. Placement is subject to the availability of space. Transportation for out-of-catchment requests is not guaranteed.


TRANSPORTATION

Registration for student transportation will be open from May 1 to 31. All students must be registered for transportation every year if they wish to access the services. Student Transportation/Registration Information
