GISS Improv Team Bound for National Competition

2024 GISS Improv Team

It's official. The GISS Improv Team has won the Vancouver Island Region of the Canadian Improv Games and therefore has advanced to the national tournament in Ottawa.

These eight improvisors in grades 8-12 will be representing GISS, and this region, at the National Arts Centre, playing among the top twenty teams from here to Newfoundland.

Improv%202024.jpgDuring the week of March 25-30, the team will be taking workshops from amazing teachers and touring parliament hill and our national museums and galleries by day, then performing with teams from across Canada in the evening. The semi-finals night of play is Wednesday, March 27 and the top five teams at the end of the week will play on Saturday, March 30. The events will be live-streamed through the Canadian Improv Games. This is a phenomenal accomplishment and opportunity that will surely create lifelong memories for these kids and add a feather to the cap of our accomplished GISS Improv team.

We travel the farthest distance to play and compete and it’s phenomenal to see our community rally around our fundraising efforts and support our school and its amazing students.

GISS Improv has advanced to the national tournament 8 times in the past with two national championships and a silver medal in the three years before the pandemic. It’s exciting!
