Administrative Announcement 2023-11-13

On behalf of School District No. 64 (Gulf Islands) and the Board of Education, we would like to make the following administrative announcements effective January 1, 2024: 

• Dr. Scott Benwell has been appointed to the role of Acting Superintendent until January 31, 2024. This temporary appointment will ensure a smooth transition for incoming Superintendent Dr. Jill Jensen on February 1, 2024.  

• Mr. Lyall Ruehlen will be appointed to the position of Director of Instruction with responsibilities including human resources, professional growth, school planning, and educational Health and Safety.

• Mr. Dan Sparanese will be appointed to the position of District Principal with responsibilities for 64GO, Feeding Futures, the International Program, and Career Education Programs. 
• Ms. Clare Nuyens will be appointed as Human Resources Manager and will maintain support for Student Services and MyEducation BC.

We wish each of those moving into new roles or on to new adventures all the best in their new appointments.
