Gulf Islands Secondary School’s Phoenix Program offers a secondary education to those students who seek a self directed, personalized learning experience. Students who are registered at Gulf Islands Secondary School can choose to take some or all of their courses through the Phoenix Program.

 

Students at Phoenix can choose to accelerate through the curriculum or spend time exploring specific topics in great depth. Individualized student learning plans encourage students to take advantage of self-directed learning, work experience, mentorships, and community explorations in areas that are of interest.

 

Regular small-group instruction is offered in Math, English and other core courses as required.  Individualized instruction and assistance is provided to support each student’s program, interest, and learning style.

 

Phoenix fosters a cooperative learning environment in which students, teachers and parents share in planning to meet the student’s unique educational goals.
